India wants to build Institute of Technology in Binh Duong province

(BDO) On the morning of August 22, at the Provincial Administration Center, Mr. Mai Hung Dung, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, received Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi, Consul General of India in Ho Chi Minh City, to discuss the policy of establishing an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Binh Duong province.

During the meeting, Mr. Mai Hung Dung briefly introduced the socio-economic development of the province. Recently, Binh Duong successfully hosted Horasis India, a significant event that provided an opportunity for businesses to meet, discuss, and seek investment cooperation opportunities.

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi highly appreciated Binh Duong province’s development path and expressed India’s desire to establish an IIT campus in Binh Duong. Founded in 1950, IIT is a network of technical and technological institutions in India managed by the Ministry of Education of India, training many globally renowned technology leaders. The system’s schools focus on over 60 disciplines, with notable fields including information technology, mechanical engineering, and human resource management.

Currently, Vietnam and India are continuing to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including economics, culture, and education. Education is seen as a potential area for both sides to cooperate and share development experiences.

Recognizing Binh Duong as a locality with strong development momentum, the Indian Government wishes to invest in an IIT campus in the province to train high-quality human resources and research and implement information technology and high-tech projects in the area.

Mr. Madan Mohan Sethi also shared about the development of short-term exchange programs for students in technical and technological fields to study, intern, and engage in cultural exchanges with each other.
